National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program CDC provides low-income, uninsured, and underserved women access to timely, high-quality screening and diagnostic services, to detect breast and cervical cancer at the earliest stages, through the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). Since 1991, the NBCCEDP has served more than 3.1 million women, provided more than 7.5 million screening examinations, and diagnosed 32,996 breast cancers, 2,035 invasive cervical cancers, and 106,904 precursor cervical lesions.
